It's not often tat a late-night TV host admits to agreeing with President Donald Trump. But that's exactly what Bill Maher did on the latest episode of Real Time.
President Trump's policies aren't exactly favored by hosts like Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Seth Meyers. And while Bill Maher is no Republican, he usually offers some different perspectives during his once-a-week show.
That was the case when Maher brought up President Trump's continued efforts to cut funding for Harvard University. The president has canceled contracts with the university and attempted to limit how many international students get accepted to the Massachusetts school.
Maher called President Trump's feud with Harvard a "kernel of a good idea." That's largely because the Real Time host called the university an "a***hole factory" that produces "smirking f***faces."
It certainly was a harsh judgment from Maher. The comedian claims he's been ragging on Harvard long before President Trump decided to take on the task.
CNN anchor Jake Tapper was a panel guest on the show. He quickly pointed out that Maher went to Cornell, another Ivy League school. But Maher defended himself, dismissing any notion that a rivarly was behind his Harvard bashing.
To make things even more akward, Maher's other guest was Representative Seth Moulton. The Massachusetts Democrat holds three degrees from Harvard.
"Present company excepted," Maher quipped when told of Moulton's Harvard credentials. The politician laughed it off rather than get involved in a back-and-forth with Maher over the school.
Maher siding with Donald Trump comes a few months after the comedian had dinner with the president. Some criticized Maher for taking the dinner, but he pushed back on any negativity. Maybe Harvard came up during the dinner and convinced Maher to soften his stance on Trump?
