That didn't take long. Just days after confirming her exit from Saturday Night Live, Chloe Fineman officially landed a new gig. The actress will have a prominent role in an upcoming Netflix series.
In an exclusive report, Deadline revealed Fineman has been cast in the upcoming Netflix drama Myron Bolitar. The show will draw inspiration from the book series by author Harlan Coben, who is already responsible for a successful library of drama series on the streaming giant. The character Myron Bolitar first appeared in Coben's 1995 novel Deal Breaker and has 12 total books in the series.
Colin Woodell (The Continental, The Flight Attendant) stars as the title character, a former baskeball player who changes careers after an injury and becomes a high-powered sports agent. Per Deadline, Fineman will play "Parker Quinn, a sports reporter for a major sports publication who has built a stellar reputation through hard work and an undeniable passion for the game." It doesn't seem as if Fineman's character comes directly from the novel series, so fans of the book may not recognize Quinn by name.
Jabari Banks (Bel-Air), Jamie McShane (Task), KJ Apa (Riverdale), Diane Guerrero (Orange is the New Black), and Ben McKenzie (Gotham) are also part of the cast. Behind the camera, David E. Kelley (Margo’s Got Money Troubles) and Kyle Long (Suits)) serve as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers.
It's a relatively suprising move for Fineman as she says goodbye to Saturday Night Live. Rather than to jump directly back into another comedy, the former SNL star is going in a completely different direction with the Harlan Coben drama. That's not to say can't be some humorous elements to her character, but nobody will be streaming Myron Bolitar looking for a laugh.
However, this won't be Fineman's first dramatic project. While she was still a cast member on Saturday Night Live, she appeared in supporting roles in the films Babylon and Megalopolis.
Fineman does have a few comedy projects upcoming. She has a supporting role in the rom-com Love Language starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Anthony Ramos, Manny Jacinto, and Isabel May. Then, she'll appear in the Apple TV+ sports comedy The Dink about pickleball that features Jake Johnson, Ben Stiller, and Mary Steenburgen. Finally, Fineman landed a supporting role in the romantic comedy Red White & Royal Wedding.
Netflix has not announced a start date for Myron Bolitar.
