Who’s hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, December 9?
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live is all-new tonight as the sketch show gets into the holiday spirit. So who will SNL fans see as tonight’s host, welcoming the show to December?
December is always an important time of year for Saturday Night Live. The holidays always bring out some of the season’s best sketches, which makes selecting the right host all the more important. Safe to say tonight’s host is more than up to the challenge.
Actor Adam Driver will host Saturday Night Live tonight. It will be the fourth time he’s hosted SNL, this time out in promotion of his new film Ferrari.
Pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo joins him as tonight’s musical guest. For Rodrigo, it’s her second time as the musical guest. Look for her to perform a single from her smash sophomore album GUTS.
What to expect from Adam Driver as host of Saturday Night Live tonight
Adam Driver’s movie performances prove he’s one of the most talented actors working in Hollywood today. His Saturday Night Live performances prove he could probably make it in the cast.
In a relatively short period of time, Driver has delivered some of the most memorable sketches in recent SNL history. The Star Wars/Undercover Boss parody became an instant classic. And his turn as Abraham H. Parnassus in “Career Day” is flawless.
So with that in mind, there’s no reason to think Driver won’t deliver more of the same. The writers know they have a host who is game for anything and can deliver even the most absurd premise with a sincerity that will captivate the audience.
There’s also a good chance Driver will get an assist from Olivia Rodrigo in tonight’s sketches. The singer already has an acting background, so she’s ready for either a live or pretaped sketch. Rodrigo also carries the type of star power SNL would be wise to capitalize on by putting her in sketches.
Saturday Night Live airs tonight, December 9, at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. It also streams on Peacock.
