Jimmy Kimmel‘s monologue didn’t shed any tears for Donald Trump. The late-night TV host recapped reports that the former president was depressed in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election.

According to a new book from Liz Cheney, Representative Kevin McCarthy flew to Mar-a-Lago three weeks after January 6. He told Cheney that Trump wasn’t eating and was depressed after losing the election to President Joe Biden.

Kimmel’s monologue jumped on the story during Wednesday night’s show. “That I don’t believe,” Kimmel said in response to McCarthy allegedly claiming Trump wasn’t eating. The comedian has always mocked Donald Trump for his weight when given the opportunity, and Wednesday’s monologue was no different.

The host went on to suggest his own theory on why Donald Trump would be depressed following January 6. “January 6 is also the day Eric was born,” Kimmel joked, sending a shot at Eric Trump. “Could be why he wasn’t eating.”

Jimmy KImmel reacts to Liz Cheney’s account of January 6

Liz Cheney’s book offered a lot more insight around January 6. Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue also covered Cheney’s story about how some lawmakers reacted.

Cheney reports that members of the GOP were signing baseless electoral vote objection sheets. The former representative wrote that Rep. Mark Green of Tennessee said “the things we do for the Orange Jesus.”

“They do have a lot in common,” Kimmel said of Jesus and Donald Trump. “Regular Jesus healed the sick, Orange Jesus told them to drink bleach.”

Nothing in Cheney’s book seemed to surprise Kimmel, although the stories did entertain the late-night host. At this point, Kimmel has heard it all from Donald Trump and the Republican Party. But that doesn’t mean his monologues are going to let anything slide.
