Who’s hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, November 18?
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live is back tonight with another brand-new episode. And for the second time in a row, SNL welcomes back a familiar face to host.
So far through the first four episodes of Saturday Night Live season 49, there have been three first-time hosts and one returning host. Timothee Chalamet was back in Studio 8H last week to host for the second time.
Tonight, another familiar face returns to SNL — and he’s also a Dune star. Actor Jason Momoa hosts Saturday Night Live tonight. He’ll be joined by musical guest Tate McRae, making her SNL debut.
With the actors’ strike a thing of the past, Momoa is free to plug his movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom coming to theaters next month. The outlook for the DC movie isn’t great considering the mess behind the scenes at WB, but Momoa can exude positivity even in the worst of times.
What to expect from Jason Momoa as host of Saturday Night Live tonight
Saturday Night Live has kept things political in the cold open for most of the young season. There was plenty of material created during the week that could serve as inspiration.
One would be the “fight club” that broke out in Congress as members of the GOP looked to pick a fight. If SNL decides to go in this direction, it would be nice to see them take it to a different level. Often just repeating exactly what a politician said or did is underwhelming. Let’s see if SNL can really lean in to things and give us something unexpected.
Jason Momoa should have no problems as tonight’s Saturday Night Live host. He proved last time around that he is absolutely up for anything, especially the more absurd.
SNL went back to the well last week with Timothee Chalamet by making sequels to two of his popular sketches. Momoa also comes back to Studio 8H with those options.
Don’t be surprised if we get a Thanksgiving edition of “First Impression” or maybe a full sketch about his Apollo Benz character that had a cameo when Chance the Rapper hosted.
Saturday Night Live airs tonight, November 18, at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. It also streams live on Peacock.
