We are into November and have hit the first Saturday of the month. So what should Saturday Night Live fans expect to see tonight on NBC?

Saturday Night Live season 49 got off to a delayed start due to the writers’ strike. But following a resolution, SNL has rattled off three consecutive new episodes since the premiere back on October 14.

Unfortunately, it’s time for the first break of the new SNL season. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.

Instead, NBC will air a rerun of the SNL season 49 premiere. It gives fans another chance to watch Pete Davidson return to Studio 8H and host for the first time. Musical guest Ice Spice joined Davidson in the episode, which also featured cameos from Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift, and John Mulaney.

Why isn’t Saturday Night Live new tonight? When will SNL be back?

Saturday Night Live did have some momentum going after comedian Nate Bargatze hosted last week. But going by SNL history, it’s not all that surprising that there is not a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.

Last season followed the same schedule by airing three weeks of new episodes before taking a break. Season 47 in 2021 and season 46 in 2020 were outliers. SNL dropped four and five consecutive new episodes to start the season, respectively. However, it’s typical for SNL to take a break after three weeks.

The good news is that we know when Saturday Night Live will return. A brand new episode is scheduled for November 11. Actor Timothee Chalamet returns to host for the second time. He’ll be joined by musical guest boygenius, making the band’s first SNL appearance.

You can catch up with SNL season 49 through the show’s official YouTube channel or by browsing SNL content on Peacock.
