Last Week Tonight with John Oliver hasn’t been back for long, but it quickly restablished itself as late-night TV’s solution to the Sunday Scaries. So what should fans expect to see tonight on HBO?

Like the rest of late-night TV, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver rode out the Writers Guild of America strike for months. And when the WGA finally received an acceptable offer, the HBO late-night TV ended its hiatus and got back to work.

That work will continue on Sunday night as John Oliver gets back in front of the camera. There will be a brand new episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver tonight.

Unlike other late-night TV shows, it’s nearly impossible to predict what John Oliver will focus on during any given episode of Last Week Tonight. Since returning to HBO with new episodes, he’s covered prison healthcare and homeschooling.

What could Last Week Tonight with John Oliver cover tonight?

Late-night TV hasn’t been able, or willing, to ignore what’s happening in Israel and Gaza right now. From The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to Saturday Night Live, nearly every show has acknowledged the situation in some capacity.

Expect Last Week Tonight with John Oliver to do the same. Oliver will likely address the destruction to some degree at the top of tonight’s show. From there, he’ll move on to the main story of the night.

That’s where it gets difficult to know exactly what Oliver will want to dissect for his late-night TV audience. The team at Last Week Tonight has repeatedly proven that it’s worth of its award-show dominance by researching, writing, and producing some of the most entertaining and thought-provoking pieces on television. Tonight should be no different.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver airs tonight, October 15, at 11:05 p.m. ET on HBO.
