Friday night is here, and for late-night TV fans, that means Real Time with Bill Maher. What should audiences expect to see tonight on HBO?

Maher certainly would have plenty to sink his teeth into given what transpired this week. Former president Donald Trump was indicted for a third time, facing charges related to the 2020 election. Maher and his panel could really get into the fallout and what it means ahead of the 2024 election.

Unfortunately, we won’t hear from Bill Maher or any guests on Friday. There will not be a new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher tonight.

Instead, HBO will air the 2011 film Immortals during Real Time‘s normal 10:00 p.m. ET timeslot. Not exactly what fans hoping for a political discussion will want to see, but that’s the schedule.

Why isn’t Real Time with Bill Maher new tonight?

All things considered, it shouldn’t come as a shock that Real Time with Bill Maher is off the air tonight. Late-night TV remains in the dark, as it has been since May.

The Writers Guild of America remains on strike. When writers hit the picket lines back in the spring, shows like Real Time shut down without a writing staff to create new content.

However, anyone looking to hear from Maher directly still have an option. His Club Random podcast continues to release new episodes. Maher has chatted with Sharon Osbourne, Jordan Peterson, and John Waters in recent weeks. You can check out the podcast’s official YouTube channel for full conversations and short clips.
