We can’t believe our eyes. Jon Stewart made an unexpected return to The Daily Show this week.

As Roy Wood Jr began his debut week as host of the political commentary show on Comedy Central, Stewart made a surprise guest appearance.

Jon hosted The Daily Show for over 15 years, marking himself as one of America’s most prolific satirical political commentators. Now the comedian has jumped ship, well into his second season of The Problem with Jon Stewart on Apple+.

Already, the Apple show has counted on its numerous viral moments to keep viewers tuned in. Just last month, Stewart went viral after debating Nathan Dahm on the issue of gun reform. He’s even been labelled “the TV interviewer in America” this year.

With Trevor Noah having announced his exit from The Daily Show, the show has opted to rotate a number of guest hosts until a permanent replacement is found.

During Wednesday’s show, Stewart suddenly walked into the studio to sit down with Jr to reminisce over his long reign on the programme.

Stewart congratulated Wood Jr on a “fabulous job” hosting the show.

Roy Wood Jr: a likely replacement for Trevor Noah

Many have waited for Roy Wood Jr to have his chance in the spotlight after being named as a guest host on The Daily Show.
