Jimmy Kimmel took to the stage at The Oscars tonight as host and has Twitter talking.

Awkward! Kimmel talks to Malala

Thousands are tweeting about Kimmel’s awkward encounter with Malala whilst the ABC host spoke to audience members.

Jimmy joked with the activist, asking her, “As the youngest Nobel Prize winner in history, I was wondering, do you think Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine?”

Malala was quick to comment, cleverly choosing to stay out of the Hollywood gossip loop, telling Kimmel: “I only talk about peace.”

It was quite the response and one which continues to have social media talking. Others were less impressed with Kimmel’s comment, criticising the host for being disrespectful.

“Malala land? That’s the best you can do with a Nobel prize winner?” one tweet read.

It seemed nothing more than a harmless joke which we expect Malala would have caught onto.

That joke is so 2022

It was no surprise that Kimmel had to name-drop Will Smith at least once during the awards ceremony.

“If anyone in this theatre commits an act of violence at any point in the show, you will be awarded the Oscar for Best Actor” the late-night host told audience members during his opening monologue.

Last year at the Oscars, Will Smith made headlines across the world after psychically assaulting host, Chris Rock on stage.

Good try Kimmel, but we’re getting bored…

We hope Tucker Carlson was watching tonight

Even Fox News’ Tucker Carlson became the face of one of Kimmel’s jokes last night. The primetime Fox host won’t be too happy to be apart of the awards show he’s mocked for so many years.

Kimmel told viewers tonight: “Editors do amazing things. Editors can turn 44,000 hours of violent insurrection footage into a respectful sightseeing tour of the Capitol.”

Kimmel’s comments come after Tucker Carlson was accused of downplaying the January 6th insurrection. Even major Republican figures had publicly condemned Tucker’s reporting at the time. Minority Leader of the Senate, Mitch McConnell claimed the Fox host’s comments were “completely at variance” with the investigations undertaken by law enforcement.

“Cut to break”

For no reason at all, our favourite moment of the night has to have been the moment when Kimmel was rushed off stage by RRR’s spectacular cast.

The late-night host was pushed off stage by the dancers of the hit Indian film in a perfectly put-together sketch. The movie is pretty damn good too if we may say.
