It’s Saturday night, so late-night TV fans hope for some comedy live from New York. So what should Saturday Night Live fans expect to see tonight on NBC?

The long-running sketch show is coming off back-to-back new episodes hosted by Woody Harrelson and Travis Kelce. The results have been mixed, but the audience continues to show up for SNL.

Expect that to be the case on Saturday, too. There will be a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.

Wednesday and Scream VI star Jenna Ortega will host in her Saturday Night Live debut. The 1975 joins her as the musical guest.

What to expect tonight on Saturday Night Live

One of the most significant new stories of the week was the revelation that Fox News host Tucker Carlson privately indicated his disdain for former president Donald Trump. It seems like the kind of story that would pop up on SNL’s radar for a cold open. However, SNL hasn’t done much in the way of parodying Carlson, with only former cast member Alex Moffat playing the role. The story may be up SNL’s alley, but the show may not have the talent to pull off a sketch.

On the other side, it’s been a while since we’ve seen James Austin Johnson play President Joe Biden. Perhaps Biden’s ability to stay out of the headlines recently has something to do with SNL taking it easy on the president.

If we’re going to get a politically-motivated cold open, isn’t it time for SNL’s version of Ron DeSantis? Outside of “Weekend Update,” SNL appears to be taking it easy on the Florida governor. Meanwhile, late-night shows like Last Week Tonight with John Oliver haven’t hesitated to target the republican. Perhaps tonight is the night SNL steps up to the plate.
