Tucker Carlson caught lying to America, Stephen Colbert responds
Stephen Colbert took aim at Tucker Carlson and Fox News last night after it was revealed the news network knowingly lied and manipulated facts surrounding the January 6th insurrection.
Primetime host on the conservative network, Tucker Carlson is facing the most scrutiny for his wild coverage of the January 6th riot.
This week, Carlson attempted to downplay the insurrection, claiming the majority of those within the Capitol’s premises were sightseers.
Even major Republican figures have publicly condemned Tucker’s reporting. Mitch McConnell claimed the Fox host’s comments were “completely at variance” with the investigations undertaken by law enforcement.
Even the White House has now publicly shamed Carlson for his most recent monologue. They claim the Fox Host is “not credible”.
Colbert laughs at Carlson
Stephen Colbert was one of the first to make comment on Carlson’s monologue.
He joked to viewers: “Sightseers? Sightseers, really? Grab a rock, honey, we’re going to the Louvre. I want to peacefully smear my crap on the Mona Lisa. See if she keeps smiling after that.”
“You’d think that once the people gaslighting you on a daily basis have been revealed to be liars – say, in multiple text messages and a $1.6bn court filing by Dominion Voting Systems – they would pump the brakes,” he later added.
It’s true. Fox is facing a growing PR problem over claims of lies in their reporting over the 2020 Election and now January 6th.
Some are continuing to praise Carlson however. Joe Rogan appeared fascinated by Tucker’s analysis, claiming, “I think people are just starting to recognize that it’s not what you thought it was.”
Rogan reacted to a clip which supposedly saw the famed QAnon Shaman being given a tour around the premises.
Already, however, the footage has been fact-checked by Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger who claimed that officers were using de-escalation tactics to persuade rioters to leave the building.
Even if Chansley was being given the luxury of a quick tour, the disturbing anti-democratic events which occurred on January 6th are always worth remembering.
