The calendar has flipped over to March, meaning we’re into the second half of Saturday Night Live. So what should SNL fans expect to see tonight on NBC?

SNL returned from its February hiatus last week with host Woody Harrelson. In addition to a bizarre monologue, the show never seemed to find its footing. The end result was one of the more forgettable episodes of season 48.

The good news is that SNL has a chance to redeem itself on Saturday. There will be a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.

Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce will host. Musical guest Kelsea Ballerini will join the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.

What to watch for on Saturday Night Live tonight

Last week, James Austin Johnson’s version of Donald Trump returned to the spotlight in the cold open. It was a welcomed sight, but not one that needs repeating this week. Instead, it’s time for SNL to focus on another Florida-based republican.

SNL has yet to give us its take on Ron Desantis. Many believe that the Florida governor is nearing an announcement on his bid for the White House in 2024. Given his recent press conferences on education, drag queens, and Disney, it’s surprising that Saturday Night Live hasn’t used any of it for material outside of “Weekend Update.”

The biggest question is who would play Desantis. No current cast member jumps out as an obvious choice. Then again, few would have picked Bowen Yang to play George Santos despite it being a perfect pick.

Marcello Hernandez and Andrew Dismukes are two names that some fans have tossed around as potential Desantis actors. Or, SNL could go the cameo route and bring in a friend of the show to play the GOP governor, ala Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump.

We’ll find out if SNL decides to take aim at Ron Desantis when the show airs tonight at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
