Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, February 25?
By Matt Moore
It has been a relatively quiet February for Saturday Night Live as we hit the final Saturday of the month. So what SNL should fans expect to see tonight on NBC?
SNL last aired back on February 4. The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal helped delivered one of the more memorable episodes of season 48. The show went on a February vacation on a high note, but audiences are ready for more.
The good news is that’s exactly what they’ll get on Saturday. There will be a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.
Actor Woody Harrelson returns to host SNL for the fifth time. He’ll be joined by musical guest Jack White.
What to watch for tonight on Saturday Night Live
Saturday Night Live fans won’t want to be late tuning into tonight’s episode. Host Woody Harrelson will officially be inducted into the Five Timers Club. He’ll set the record for the longest time between a hosting debut and the fifth time at over 33 years.
Harrelson first hosted in 1989; his most recent hosting gig was in 2019. The Champions star also made a handful of appearances as Joe Biden when SNL was without a consistent performer ahead of the 2020 election.
So the question is who will be on hand tonight to welcome Harrelson to the club? Steve Martin, Tina Fey, and Candice Bergen have had the honors in recent years. Harrelson did make an uncredited appearance in L.A. Story, the 1991 film directed by and starring Martin. That connection could bring Martin back to Studio 8H tonight.
Other possible guest stars with connections to Harrelson include Tom Hanks and John Goodman. Hanks was an executive producer of Game Change, the movie about Sarah Palin that co-starred Harrelson. And Harrelson and Goodman are both voice actors in the animated series The Freak Brothers.
Or maybe SNL will go the Cheers route and put together a mini-reunion for Harrelson. Ted Danson, Shelley Long, Rhea Perlman, and George Wendt appearing on stage would make for a memorable moment.
We’ll find out tonight when Saturday Night Live airs at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
