Saturday Night Live sets Travis Kelce, Jenna Ortega as upcoming hosts
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live will soon be hosted by a Super Bowl champion and a Netflix star. Travis Kelce and Jenna Ortega have been named as upcoming SNL hosts.
Kelce, who won Super Bowl 57 with the Kansas City Chiefs, will host on March 4. It will be the first time for Kelce, joining a list of other NFL stars to host SNL that includes Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and J.J. Watt. He’ll be joined by musical guest Kelsea Ballerini
Wednesday star Jenna Ortega gets her chance to host on March 11. That will be just one day after her horror film Scream VI hits theaters. The 1975 will serve as the musical guest when Ortega makes her Saturday Night Live debut.
Saturday Night Live is currently on a break after delivering its latest episode back on February 4. The show returns on February 25 with host Woody Harrelson and musical guest Jack White.
Saturday Night Live adds more star power for March
It’s unlikely that many Saturday Night Live fans had Travis Kelce on their radar as a potential host in season 48. Before the premiere, stars like Billy Eichner and Zendaya were high on the wish list.
But there’s no denying that Kelce is the biggest personality on the NFL’s best team. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the MVP, yet his favorite target makes for a better SNL choice.
For Ortega, hosting Saturday Night Live is the latest accomplishment in the young actor’s already impressive career. Few other performers have had such a rapid rise as Ortega beginning with her role in You and extending to Wednesday and the Scream franchise. Surely co-star Fred Armisen will have some advice for Ortega ahead of her SNL debut.
