It’s the first weekend of February and with it came a deep freeze across much of the country. But SNL fans are hoping it also brought a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live.

Last week, SNL tried to build some momentum in its second week back from a holiday hiatus. And while the episode won’t land on any “best of season 48 lists,” it delivered enough laughs to keep audiences hungry for more.

The good news is that more is on the way. There will be a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.

The Last of Us and The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal will host in his first SNL appearance. Coldplay will join him as the musical guest.

What to watch for on Saturday Night Live tonight

The big news story of the week has been the Chinese spy balloon floating over the northern U.S. On Saturday afternoon, it was finally shot down. It’s the kind of story that Saturday Night Live could easily spin into a cold open.

Maybe James Austin Johnson will come on President Joe Biden, giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the decisions that went into taking down the balloon. Or, SNL could choose to satire the event through the lens of Fox News coverage or even former President Donald Trump’s perspective from Mar-a-Lago.

We’re also due for a cameo. Season 48 brought in guest stars at a pretty heavy rate up until the post-holiday episodes. Some fans are hoping that Bella Ramsey, Nick Offerman, and/or Murray Bartlett pop up to support fellow Last of Us star Pedro Pascal. On the other hand, perhaps Kyle Mooney comes back as Baby Yoda for a Mando reunion.
