Is Real Time with Bill Maher new tonight, January 20?
By Matt Moore
The year in late-night television can’t officially start if some shows have yet to return. So what should Real Time with Bill Maher fans expect to see tonight on HBO?
Bill Maher signed off of season 20 back in November. Since then, a lot has happened without the Real Time host’s commentary (despite how busy Maher has been on his podcast).
The good news is that things finally change on Friday. There will be a brand new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher tonight.
Just how far back Maher wants to go in recapping his time off is up to him. However, the comedian has plenty of news to digest from just this week. The discovery of classified documents at President Joe Biden’s home, the ongoing saga of Representative George Santos, and the latest developments in Ukraine could all be on the table for Maher’s monologue.
Who’s on Real Time with Bill Maher tonight?
First up, Bill Maher will interview former Attorney General Bill Barr. Barr served under both President George H.W. Bush and President Donald Trump. He hasn’t hesitated to call out Trump in his memoir or during media appearances over the past couple of years. Expect more of the same on Real Time.
Then, it’s time for the panel. It will feature two guests: a returning face and a first-timer.
Author, blogger, and political commentator Andrew Sullivan returns to Real Time with Bill Maher tonight. He can be read regularly at The Daily Dish. Similar to Maher, Sullivan tends to aim for both sides and riles up liberals and conservatives equally. The pair should feed off each other tonight.
Representative Nancy Mace makes her Real Time debut tonight. The republican represents South Carolina’s 1st district. Mace is one of a handful of GOP members who refused to go along with the plan to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Mace should weigh in on the Republican agenda now that it has a majority, especially on the debt ceiling issue.
Real Time with Bill Maher airs tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET on HBO. Fans can use #RTOvertime to submit a question for the Overtime segment.
