Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, January 14?
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live fans have been patiently waiting for the show’s return in 2023. So what should SNL audiences expect to see tonight on NBC?
Now that the excitement of the holiday season is long gone, many fans are looking around and wondering where Saturday Night Live could be. The show hasn’t aired a new episode since December 17 when Cecily Strong had her fond farewell.
The bad news is that the wait will continue through Saturday. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight. SNL remains on its winter hiatus.
Instead, NBC will reair the November 5 episode from earlier this season during the regular 11:30 timeslot. It gives fans another chance to see Amy Schumer host alongside musical guest Steve Lacy.
Anyone looking to catch another vintage episode at 10:00 p.m. ET will be out of luck. NBC will be broadcasting the NFL Wild Card Playoff game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars beginning at 8:15. If that game runs long, it’s possible the 11:30 repeat will also be delayed.
When will Saturday Night Live return?
We’ve already given you the bad news, so it’s time for the good news. Saturday Night Live will be back next week. A brand new episode is scheduled for Saturday, January 21.
The White Lotus and Emily the Criminal star Aubrey Plaza will host and make her SNL debut. She’ll be joined by musical guest Sam Smith.
SNL will be right back at it the following week with another new episode planned for January 28. Creed III‘s Michael B. Jordan gets his first shot at hosting. Joining him as the musical guest will be Lil Baby.
