Jeopardy! rolled on with another brand-new episode on Tuesday night. Here’s what happened in tonight’s game.

Entering Tuesday’s game, the current Jeopardy! champion was riding a 21-game winning streak. It seems like no one can slow them down, with several games being decided before the “Final Jeopardy!” clue.

Who is the current Jeopardy! champion?

Cris Pannullo, a customer success operations manager from Ocean City, New Jersey, is the current Jeopardy! champion. Over 21 victories, he’s earned $748,286. That’s good for fifth all-time in regular gameplay.

His competition on Tuesday included Meghan Mello, an athletic trainer from North Smithfield, Rhode Island, and Andy Tirrell, a political science and international relations professor from San Diego, California.

Per usual, Pannullo jumped out to an early lead following the “Jeopardy!” round. He banked $7,600. However, Mello wasn’t far behind with $4,200. Tirrell had some work to do with -$1,000.

And that’s just what the professor did in “Double Jeopardy!” play. Pannullo finished the round in the lead with $12,600, but Tirrell was right on his heels with $11,900. Mello dropped to third with $4,200.

In “Final Jeopardy!,” Pannullo failed to come up with the correct response. It left the door open for Tirrell, who answered correctly and became the new Jeopardy! champion. Pannullo’s 21-game winning streak was officially over.

What was tonight’s Final Jeopardy! clue?

“Final Jeopardy!” wasn’t easy, but perhaps some literary buffs knew the answer immediately. Here it is in the category “Plays”:

A 1609 story in which an exiled king of Bulgaria creates a sea palace with his magic may have inspired the plot of this play

Answer: What is “The Tempest”?

The correct answer was William Shakespeare’s play The Tempest about a sorcerer on a remote island. Only Andy Tirrell came up with the correct response. Cris Pannullo wrote “The Little Mermaid” while Meghan Mello offered “I had fun.”
