Stephen Colbert goes inside the newest branch of the U.S. military tonight. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert meets the Space Force on Tuesday night’s episode.

CBS will air “The Late Show Presents: Red, White, & Greenland! Stephen Cold-Bear Is Lost In Space Force” during the show’s regular timeslot. The special will feature footage from Colbert’s visit to Greenland earlier this year.

The comedian joined up with the USO to visit Thule Air Base. The base is recognized as the northernmost installation of the U.S. Armed Forces.

According to a CBS press releaseThe Late Show fans have a lot to look forward to in tonight’s episode. Colbert will interview Chief Master Sergeant of the Space Force, Roger A. Towberman. Also on tap is “a nuclear missile attack simulation, … insight about their radar system’s effect on the human body and … an epic karaoke night for all of Thule with Navy Veteran and musician Sturgill Simpson.”

Stephen Colbert has discussed the Space Force on The Late Show before

When former President Donald Trump called for the creation of the Space Force, it was met with mixed reactions. Some praised the decision by citing the potential future of warfare. Others considered it a waste or nothing more than a vanity project for Trump.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert didn’t shy away from the topic. In one Late Show monologue, Colbert joked that Vice President did everything he could to make the Space Force sound “not dumb.”

From the start, Colbert wondered why Trump was so hellbent on creating another branch of the armed forces. The comedian joked that maybe Trump wanted to visit the Moon where he’d weigh less before ripping Trump’s “there’s no place like space” line.

We’ll find out tonight how much Colbert has changed his tune about the Space Force. Perhaps meeting some of the men and women in the service will get the Late Show host to forgive Trump’s relentless push to create it.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs tonight at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
