Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, November 19?
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live gave audiences its take on the midterm elections last week. So what should SNL fans expect to see tonight on NBC?
For the third time, Dave Chappelle hosted Saturday Night Live following an election. Unsurprisingly, the night had its fair share of controversy. However, SNL doesn’t appear to have suffered any long-term problems and is already putting Chappelle’s episode in the rearview mirror.
However, we won’t get to see what SNL does next Saturday. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight. The show is taking a post-election break that will extend through the Thanksgiving holiday.
Instead, NBC will reair the season 24 episode hosted by Brendan Fraser with musical guest Busta Rhymes. With Fraser earning increased attention for his new movie The Whale, it makes sense that SNL wants in on the action.
At 10:00 p.m. ET, look for another vintage SNL episode. Fans can revisit the 2012 episode hosted by Anne Hathaway with Rihanna as the musical guest.
When will Saturday Night Live return?
Considering Thanksgiving is coming up on November 24, don’t expect this to be a one-and-done break for Saturday Night Live.
The next new episode on the schedule is set for December 3. Actress and singer Keke Palmer will get her first chance to host SNL. Palmer has already had a big year, starring in Nope and lending her voice to the animated series Human Resources.
Palmer will have support from musical guest SZA. The R&B singer plans to release her second studio album, S.O.S., in December.
