Last night, Jimmy Kimmel addressed recent criticism from Donald Trump during a recent midterms rally.

Donald Trump: Kimmel’s show is “practically dead”

Speaking in Pensalyvanyia, former President Trump told supporters that Kimmel’s show was “practically dead” after he claimed it had lost the support of MAGA voters.

Kimmel did not hold back on his response. “That’s right, our show is dead!” he joked this week. Not stopping there, the comedian said, “Our show is so dead he’s going to bury it next to his ex-wife at one of his golf courses.”

Jimmy continued his attack on Trump saying, “You know what’s dead? The look in your wife’s eyes when you beg her for sex on your birthday.”

Later he added: “In January our show will have been on for 20 years, you got kicked out after four.”

Luckily for Kimmel, the host is set to stay on as host for another four years on the ABC network, making his run one of the longest in today’s late-night lineup.

Jimmy Kimmel Live has seen somewhat of a decrease in viewers in recent years and Jimmy himself exposed this as he recently revealed on a podcast that his Trump jokes were the root cause. In fact, Kimmel disclosed that “I have lost half of my fan-[base], maybe more than that.”

Since late night turned staunchly anti-Trump in 2016, the former president has never held back in his critique of such shows, often claiming they are no longer popular with the American public.

Instead, Trump has chosen to champion newcomer to the scene, Greg Gutfeld, now hosting a widely successful late-night show on the Fox News network. Gutfeld has been so popular amongst viewers he has often overtaken The Late Show‘s Stephen Colbert in the ratings.

Jimmy Kimmel hosts the Oscars, again

Before hitting back at Trump, the late-night star announced he would be hosting the Oscars next year.

After the Chris Rock & Will Smith controversy, the Oscars have decided to select Jimmy Kimmel once again, sticking to what they know. It’s a move clearly designed to put the 2022 Oscars firmly in the past.

The comedian took to Twitter yesterday to announce the news, however, moments later deleted the tweet. The announcement has now been confirmed by the awards ceremony, excited to see the ABC host take to the Dolby Theatre stage once again.
