On Late Night this week, Seth Meyers discussed the upcoming midterms, predicting the Republican party reaction if they suffer a loss.

Midterms are rigged already

Seth claimed that Republicans have already laid the groundwork to claim that the midterm election results were illegitimate if they lose.

The late-night show host spoke on how the Republican party prioritised spreading conspiracy theories, reinforcing the notion that the 2020 election was illegitimate.

Republican revenge

Meyers then went on to explain what the Republicans would do if they got back into power and all the ways they would try to get back at Democrats.

In an almost fearful manner, the host pulled up potential realities such as the Republicans impeaching Joe Biden, passing a national abortion ban and threatening to detonate the economy.

The NBC host explained, “It’s not just Congress where pivotal elections are being held.  Pro-Trump, Republican election deniers across the country are running for key positions that would allow them to supervise elections in swing states, and some are poised to win.”

Political controversy

Seth Meyers seemed extremely concerned by the fact that the majority of GOP nominees are election deniers according to the Washington Post.

"Meyers: “We simply cannot have a functioning democracy where one party denies the legitimacy of any election they don’t win.”"

Seth went on to reveal that the Secretary of State for Arizona GOP nominee, Mark Finchem, was actually at the capitol riots on January 6th and has been interviewed by the January 6th committee.

Despite this controversy, Finchem tweeted: “All I want for Christmas is a few arrests of election fraud criminals.”

The host of late night appeared to be stunned by this, following up by saying, “Of course, it will not shock you to learn that these lunatics have absolutely no evidence whatsoever for their lies.”

Real consequences

Meyers claimed: “all these stolen election lies are having very real consequences.”

He showed examples of voter intimidation in Arizona by conservatives where they have loitered outside early-voter drop boxes in the dark. Now 6 cases of voter intimidation are under investigation by the FBI.

Who is fuelling this type of behaviour? Seth Meyers is adamant it’s Donald Trump, who he claimed, “has continued to spread deranged claims about the drop boxes on social media.”

With so much set to happen politically very soon, what is the ultimate outcome going to be?
