Fox’s Greg Gutfeld tried to wrap his head around an apparent new sensation of woke toys and parenting designed to help explain and educate children on topics such as bullying, cultural representation, and racial injustice.

This idea of toys teaching kids the new social standards seemed to have Gutfeld in shock. “I’m worried that the Toy Association has gone woke, that is frightening,” he said.

This comment came after he took a look at a poll done by the Toy Association which displayed results stating that “parents are ready for kids’ toys to educate them on serious world issues…”

Greg Gutfeld went on to discuss the contrast in kids’ toys today compared to his childhood. Adding in his unique humour, Gutfeld told viewers: “I learned that pet rocks could be thrown at neighbours, I learned that Monopoly means you’ll choose money over family…”

Gutfeld: “Is there anything worse than a woke toy?”

Tyrus, a guest on the show and contributor for Fox News, responded: “the only thing worse than a woke toy is a woke parent.”

Despite Gutfeld’s dismay and confusion on the topic of ‘woke’ toys and his remark of, “could you imagine a woke Mr Potato Head?”, this idea of toys moving towards a more inclusive state is already in full motion.

In 2021, Hasbro removed the title ‘Mr’ from the ‘Mr Potato Head’ toy which saw the brand name, logo, and packaging rebranded accordingly. However, Hasbro stated that “MR. & MRS. POTATO HEAD aren’t going anywhere…”

Ultimately, Gutfeld’s take on woke toys is there to open up the question: Should it be toys teaching world issues to children or should parents take the reigns?
