Report: Trevor Noah hid Daily Show exit announcement from executives
Reports now suggest that Trevor Noah intentionally hid his desire to exit The Daily Show until the very last minute.
According to multiple reports, sources revealed to Puck that the Daily Show host went for lunch with MTV president, Chris McCarthy, the day before the news broke of Noah’s exit.
Noah reportedly did not hint at an impulse to call it quits at Comedy Central.
According to Puck, the source claimed Noah intentionally hid his upcoming announcement from nearly all of the crew at The Daily Show also, including producers.

Despite this, Comedy Central released a statement shortly after Noah’s announcement, thanking the host.
“We are grateful to Trevor for our amazing partnership over the past seven years,” it read. “With no timetable for his departure, we’re working together on next steps. As we look ahead, we’re excited for the next chapter in the 25+ year history of ‘The Daily Show’ as it continues to redefine culture through sharp and hilarious social commentary, helping audiences make sense of the world around them.”
The host now feels his day-to-day duties at The Daily Show cannot compete with an increasingly demanding schedule. Alongside this, Noah admitted to losing touch with his own personal life, hoping his departure will provide more downtime with close ones.
Departing the Daily Show will also give time for Noah to further his stand-up career. The host just recently performed a number of sold-out shows in Canada.
What’s next for The Daily Show?
We’re in luck. The Daily Show is expected to stay on the air with a brand new host.
Comedy Central are supposedly already in the process of deciding the show’s next big name. No official confirmation on Noah’s replacement has been made as of yet.
