Megyn Kelly bashes Trevor Noah: A “ratings killer” & “wasn’t funny”
Megyn Kelly shared her thoughts on Trevor Noah’s sudden exit from The Daily Show this week. The commentator blasted the late night host, claiming Noah killed ratings for the Comedy Central network.
Speaking to Adam Carolla, Kelly said: “He [Noah] was a ratings killer. That’s the truth.”
“He’s sort of making it sound like it was his choice. He realised some things during the pandemic,” she added.
“That show went down in the toilet with Trevor Noah at the helm. It wasn’t funny. Nobody ever laughed and he wasn’t the lead political commentator like a Colbert was either.”
Kelly went on to air a number of Trevor Noah segments, attempting to prove her accusations.
Since 2015 when Noah first took over The Daily Show, the host has witnessed a sizeable lack of viewers tuning in.
Forbes reports that the show has seen a 65% drop in it’s viewing figures throughout Noah’s seven years on the air.
Viewers respond to Megyn Kelly: “A goofy take”
Comments on Kelly’s claims have created a wave of criticism, even amongst her own viewers.
One comment read in response to the segment: “A goofy take on Trevor’s exit. Trying to show he’s not funny in a take where ppl are laughing at him. That’s funny in itself. Looking at Megyn’s exit from NBC I’m not surprised she took the chance to get one last jab in on Trevor before he’s gone.”
Another responded, saying, “Are you kidding me, Megyn? He was on for seven seasons. How is that failure?? That’s like six years longer than ‘Megyn Kelly Today’! Seriously??”
Comedy Central is yet to make an official announcement on who is set to replace Noah after his imminent exit.
