We’ve turned to a new month, and late-night fans hope it brings a new Saturday Night Live. So what should SNL fans expect to see tonight on NBC?

SNL closed out season 47 back on May 21. It was a year of firsts and lasts, as several hosts made their Saturday Night Live debut while a handful of cast members appeared in their last season.

Fans will get to see how all that change plays out tonight. There will be a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live. It’s the season premiere as SNL kicks off season 48.

Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller takes his first flight as SNL host. He’ll be joined by musical guest Kendrick Lamar.

What to watch for on Saturday Night Live tonight

Many fan-favorite cast members said goodbye to Saturday Night Live after last season. Tonight, don’t expect to see Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Kyle Mooney, Melissa Villasenor, Alex Moffat, Chris Redd, or Aristotle Athari.

Eight cast members is a big number to lose. Keep an eye on how SNL adjusts and look for any signs of which cast members may be in for a more significant role. Chloe Fineman, Ego Nwodim, and Andrew Dismukes are three to watch.

You’ll also want to watch for the four new faces joining Saturday Night Live as featured players. Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker join the cast for season 48.

It hasn’t been easy for featured players to make their mark on SNL in recent years. Dismukes and James Austin Johnson stand out as success stories while Punkie Johnson has yet to break out.

With all this change, it will be interesting to see how Miles Teller handles it. While SNL knows what it’s doing at this point, the cast and crew still need to adjust to a show without McKinnon, Bryant, Redd, and more. Whether that means putting more on Teller’s plate or shifting the heavy lifting remains to be seen.

Saturday Night Live airs at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
