During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, David Letterman revisited his feud with radio king, Howard Stern.

Kimmel started the segment, admitting, “I feel like Howard Stern is threatened by you. Howard and I are very close. I feel like Howard is jealous of my admiration for you. I feel there is something weird there.”

Letterman was quick to provide balance, revisiting his earliest memories with the shock jock.

“I’ve known Howard a long time, a very very long time,” he said. “In those days Howard was ‘shock jock Howard’ and I was always afraid of Howard. I didn’t want Howard to say unpleasant things about me. But he did.”

Back in 2018, Stern also opened up on his early spat with the Late Show host, admitting he got it wrong.

“I was just a young man full of rage and I was angry. I was angry with you, that you were on television, that you had an audience. There was no rhyme or reason to it,” Stern told the host during an appearance on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.

“I could not love anyone. I couldn’t respect anyone. I just thought this was who I was.”

In recent years, Stern has hushed his rampant presenting style, offering a more relaxed, conversational style voice on the radio.

Talk show hosts such as Ellen DeGeneres and Letterman, once on-air targets for Stern, have now rekindled her friendships with the SiriusXM host.

David Letterman assured viewers this week that the mutual respect remains… at “arms length” of course.

Jimmy Kimmel Live continues to air a week of shows in Brooklyn. Catch every new episode weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
