Shock exit: Trevor Noah leaves The Daily Show as host
Trevor Noah is leaving The Daily Show after hosting the late night programme for seven years.
During Thursday’s episode, the host announced his exit after ongoing negotiations with the network.
He told viewers during the announcement: “I remember when we first started, so many people thought it was a crazy bet, I still think it was a crazy choice.”
“What a journey’s it’s been. It’s been absolutely amazing.”

The host did later admit however that his “time is up”.
A source told TMZ, Noah’s sudden announcement was due to scheduling issues behind the scenes with the host now lacking time to continue his duties.
“I want to say thank you to the audience for an amazing seven years. It’s been wild,” he continued.
“But after seven years, I feel it’s time.”

Social media is now responding to the recent news. One user on Twitter wrote this evening: “Trevor Noah deserves credit for of course taking a one-of-a-kind show and keeping it alive when no one else thought it could sans Jon Stewart, but also for helming arguably the only major late night show to successfully bridge the TV and digital audiences, and flawlessly.”
Noah took over from a renowned successful run by Jon Stewart on the network, who remains a television favourite on Apple+.

Comedy Central has made no statement as of yet as to who could possibly replace the Trevor Noah. The network has consequently released a statement however, thanking the personality for an “amazing partnership”.
TMZ also reports that it’s source has alleged that the network will continue negotiations with the host in order to create a “timeline” for departure.
