First look: The Late Show with Stephen Colbert returns!
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert makes it’s official return to television tomorrow night. The late night show went off air last month for it’s traditional summer break.
Paramount announced last week that Colbert would return to the Ed Sullivan Theatre as viewers welcome his eight season as host.
This week’s guest line-up will include a number of A list guests to kick-off the new season.
The premier episode of season eight will see Alex Wagner and Roy Wood Jr sit down with Colbert.
Later in the week, the line-up will include: Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, Nate Burleson, Betty Gilpin, Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and James Taylor.
Colbert will be eager to return to his hosting duties after he lost the late night ratings war for the month of August to Greg Gutfeld.
The Fox News host overtook the CBS show, making late night history for the conservative news network.
Stephen Colbert returns as controversy lingers over ex-employee
Viewers are also expecting Colbert to speak on recent controversy surrounding his ex-showrunner, who now holds a CEO position at CNN. The former Late Show employee found himself in hot water online after his plans to transform the news organisation were leaked.
A tweet alleged last month that the CNN CEO “met privately with Republican Members of Congress recently to get their view(s) on how CNN might be more accommodating to Republican positions.”
The Late Show host has made no comment so far on the ongoing story, with no news as to whether a statement will be made once the late night show returns.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will return tomorrow night for it’s eighth season at 11:35/10:35C on CBS.
