Is The Late Show with Stephen Colbert new tonight, August 30?
By Matt Moore
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert took Monday night off. So was it just a long weekend or is the popular late-night TV show still on hiatus?
Some fans were taken by surprise to see another rerun last night. It came after two weeks of The Late Show repeats, leading some to believe Colbert would be back.
Unfortunately, the story doesn’t change on Tuesday. There will not be a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.
Instead, CBS will reair the August 4 episode. Any viewers looking to revisit the episode can see a guest lineup that included Colman Domingo and James Taylor.
Don’t expect anything different from The Late Show for the rest of the week. And with the Labor Day holiday next Monday, Colbert won’t be back until Tuesday, September 6.
What to watch instead of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight
If your backup plan is to watch one of the other late-night TV shows while Stephen Colbert stays on hiatus, you’re in for a rude awakening. Just about every other show is off tonight.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah all plan to air a repeat episode on Tuesday night.
That means your only option is The Late Late Show with James Corden. Tonight’s guest lineup includes Guy Fieri, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Sabrina Carpenter. The show starts at 12:35 a.m. ET on CBS.
