Bill Maher angers his once-loyal liberal audience again this week, after making a controversial and seemingly il-researched rant. On Friday, the HBO host took on the issue of college, calling it “a giant scam”.

Popular left-wing commentator, Kyle Kulinski argued Maher’s weekly talking points were slowly moving to the right when revisiting a Real Time segment in 2021.

Kulinski told his YouTube audience Maher was “doing a flat out Conservative argument” when the host suggested those who don’t go to College shouldn’t be forced into a situation of funding it.

This week, Maher spoke on Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan, arguing against the mass demand in the United States for a degree. The host told his panel he believed college was a “consumer product that they’re selling you as a golden ticket”.

Twitter wants Bill Maher on Fox News

One user on Twitter blasted the HBO host this weekend, saying: “Bill Maher doesn’t approve of student loan forgiveness even though he paid for his college …by being a ******* drug dealer. Dude should just get a show on Fox News already. He’s certainly out of touch enough for it.”

Another wrote, “@billmaher has become so republican/libertarian and wants students to drown in debt. Only true fact is that education is marketed so wealthy can keep public down. So few jobs, poor education at huge price. People his age was able to thrive in the 80’s when trickledown started.”

Maher continues to publicly reject claims he is moving to the right, instead arguing America’s left-wing has fallen out of touch with liberal values. Despite the host’s reluctance to give in to widespread criticism over his recent political takes, Maher has been open about wanting to appear on Fox as a guest.

The Real Time host told Howie Mandel during a podcast appearance this year that he was negotiating with Fox to do so.
