Is The Late Show with Stephen Colbert new tonight, August 24?
By Matt Moore
We’ve reached the midpoint of the week, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert fans are still looking for a new episode. What should they expect to see tonight on CBS?
So far, we’ve yet to get a new show from Stephen Colbert. While it isn’t completely unusual for the Late Show host to take a long weekend and start midweek, fans shouldn’t hold their breath in anticipation.
The hiatus will continue on Wednesday night. There will not be a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.
Instead, CBS will reair the August 2 episode. Any interested viewers can tune in and revisit a guest lineup that included Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Tommy Vietor, Bianca Cristovao, and James Taylor.
We don’t know for sure when The Late Show will return, but there’s a good chance the show will be back on Monday. Repeats are scheduled throughout the week, which would make two weeks off for Colbert and his staff. It’s unlikely the show will be off for a third as we head toward September.
What to watch instead of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight
The Late Show isn’t the only late-night TV program that has been off this week. Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah will all air repeats tonight.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! will have a new episode on ABC. Actor Simu Liu will guest host, joined by a guest lineup of Mandy Moore, Jimmy O. Yang, and Amelia Moore.
Over on CBS, The Late Late Show with James Corden returns with a new show. Connie Britton, Aasif Mandvi, and Blackbear are all expected to appear.
