Is The Late Show with Stephen Colbert new tonight, August 19?
By Matt Moore
We’ve hit the end of the week and late-night TV fans will be looking to close out Friday with a laugh. So what does that mean for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert?
If you’ve been paying attention this week, then chances are you already know. The CBS show has been missing all week long, airing only repeats since Monday night.
With that in mind, don’t expect anything to change direction on Friday. There will not be a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.
Instead, CBS will reair the June 23 episode. If you want to take a trip down memory lane, you can revisit Stephen Colbert’s interview with Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke and with Station Eleven star Matilda Lawler.
As far as when The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will return? At least not for another week as the show also has more repeat episodes on the schedule starting Monday.
What to watch instead of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight
Friday night is typically a quiet night in the world of late-night TV. That is especially true tonight.
The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon won’t have a new show. It wrapped up its week on Thursday with guest co-host Demi Lovato.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! will also go with a repeat. The show featured guest hosts Desus Nice, Al Franken, and Nicole Byer this week.
Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Late Late Show with James Corden are off tonight too, as they have been all week long. Don’t expect a new episode of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, either.
So what’s left? Real Time with Bill Maher will have a brand new show over on HBO. The Office star B.J. Novak is the interview guest. He’ll talk about his directorial debut Vengeance.
