Lilly Singh proved largely unsuccessful in her short run as a late-night host on the NBC network. The daily talk show in the channel’s latest time slot faced brutal criticism throughout it’s time on the air, with many regarding it as “excruciating” and “boring”.

A Little Late with Lilly Singh saw a staggering 1.4/10 rating on IMDb, making it one of the most
ill-starred shows in the category’s history. Alongside this, the program saw most criticism targeted at Singh’s obsession with woke humor and a general scripted feel across episodes.

The show even became somewhat of a viral sensation online, with critical reaction videos racking up millions of views. One YouTuber claimed to have attended a taping of the program, later releasing a long-form video discussing her experience as an audience member. The video goes in-depth, discussing behind-the-scenes operations of the show, exposing countless set-ups and scripted segments.

After Singh’s late-night show was axed by NBC, the former host soon found her next big career opportunity on Canada’s Got Talent. The social media influencer was featured as a judge on the revival season of the show.

Lilly Singh lands new TV deal

Despite Singh’s noticeable failure in making any sort of memorable impact on the late-night scene, the media personality is eager to continue her run in the mainstream media sphere. It was reported last month that Singh’s production company secured a deal with Blink49 Studios and Bell Media. Upcoming projects produced by the named parties will reportedly make a distinctive effort to provide a powerful spotlight on unrepresented communities.

In spite of a clear PR dilemma the social media star has faced in recent years, Singh will hope her new ventures will prove successful.
