Saturday Night Live season 48 is not coming to NBC in August 2022

While we’ve been able to enjoy encores of previous episodes all summer long, the wait for new episodes of Saturday Night Live has been an ongoing one that is about to continue for yet another month.

Like most fall series, Saturday Night Live remains on its summer hiatus meaning the newest season of the Emmy-winning series won’t be kicking off in August. Although it’s disappointing, the news is not too surprising as we’ve grown accustomed to the series taking the summer off like NBC’s scripted offerings.

And the silver lining is that we have been able to at least enjoy those encore episodes every Saturday night on NBC while we’ve counted down the days until the show’s return.

Is Saturday Night Live season 48 coming in 2022?

The good news is that Saturday Night Live season 48 is coming to NBC in 2022, the bad news is that we still don’t quite know when the new season will be arriving as NBC has not announced the season 48 premiere date.

It’s actually a bit surprising that NBC hasn’t confirmed the premiere date for season 48 just yet as the network has confirmed the premiere for all of its other new and returning fall series. The only thing the network has confirmed has been that season 48 is coming to NBC this fall.

If history repeats itself this year, it’s likely the new season will begin sometime in early October as previous seasons have kicked off on the first Saturday in the month. Should this be the case again this year, season 48 is likely to begin on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022.
