Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, August 6, 2022?

Saturday has arrived which for many fans means the chance to settle in and enjoy some of their favorite shows as they unplug and take it easy for the weekend. For fans of comedy, this often includes ending the day by catching the latest episode of Saturday Night Live. 

SNL has long been a staple on Saturday evenings, with the Emmy-winning series holding down the fort on Saturday nights for several decades.

There’s nothing better than ending a Saturday with the SNL cast and the endless laughs they bring, but can you enjoy a new episode of the series this weekend?

Is SNL new tonight?

Sadly, Saturday Night Live will not be airing a new episode this Saturday night as the series remains on its summer hiatus. Although NBC will not be airing a new episode of SNL on Aug. 6, there is some good news for fans of the long-running NBC sketch series!

This Saturday, NBC will once again be airing an encore episode during the show’s normal timeslot. While we know there is an encore episode set to air this evening, NBC hasn’t revealed which episode they’ll be showing this evening so you’ll have to tune in to find out.

When does Saturday Night Live return?

Surprisingly, NBC has not yet confirmed when the new season of SNL will premiere, but we do know the new season will once again kick off this fall. While an official premiere date has not been set just yet, recent seasons have begun the first weekend of October meaning it’s possible the new season of SNL could be kicking off on Saturday, Oct. 1.
