Viewers slam “insane” Chris Cuomo interview on Real Time with Bill Maher
Chris Cuomo made yet another television appearance last night on Real Time with Bill Maher. The former CNN host sat down to discuss his CNN exit and new anchor role at News Nation. Viewers however, responded in fury to the segment after Maher refused to mention allegations of sexual harassment made against Cuomo.
Chris Cuomo began by making further comment on his dramatic exit from CNN, admitting to losing a sense of “purpose” after being made redundant. The anchor said, “I want good things for people there. I don’t like how it ended. I had a great team I didn’t get to say goodbye to. I just want to move on”.
Whilst able to avoid the topic of his own sexual harassment allegations, Cuomo was pressed on his brother’s turbulent last few years. Andrew Cuomo, former New York governor, faced a number of sexual harassment allegations starting in 2020, despite his denial of such events.
Chris Cuomo admitted on Real Time: “This is my brother, obviously I’m not objective. Obviously, I’m going to help him.”
It seems viewers were less keen on Maher’s decision to invite Chris Cuomo on Real Time. One user reacted to the segment saying, “An interview wherein Chris Cuomo talks about his brother’s hardships and struggles and gets to avoid his own sexual harassment accusations.”
Another blasted Maher last night: “Bill maher says alot of wild **** but this interview with Chris Cuomo is pretty insane even for Maher.”
Despite a clear PR issue Cuomo now faces as he returns to the spotlight, the news anchor is keen on continuing on, just recently announcing his new podcast, The Chris Cuomo Project. The guest will also host a primetime show on News Nation this fall.
