Sneak peek: Chris Cuomo returns to TV on Real Time with Bill Maher
Former CNN anchor, Chris Cuomo will make an appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher this Friday.
Cuomo has been somewhat hesitant of making a swift return to television. The long-time news host was fired by CNN due to his apparent involvement in aiding his brother, Andrew Cuomo fight sexual misconduct allegations.
The journalist was just recently announced as an upcoming anchor on News Nation, where he will host a primetime show starting this fall. The host has subsequently promised to bring “something special” to the news network.
He told News Nation viewers when speaking to Dan Abrams: “I really believe that this outlet has a chance to reach who I call free agents — not right, not left, reasonable. Regular, open mind, open heart, willing to listen when someone disagrees.”
Whilst Cuomo has already made his first televised appearance after his exit from CNN, we can likely expect a more revealing interview when the anchor sits down with Maher this week.
Cuomo will inevitably enter a far different news environment from what he is used to. Whilst CNN is clearly open in expressing political opinion and igniting contentious debate, News Nation prides itself on more balanced and politically unaffiliated reporting.
The former CNN anchor will join John McWhorter and Sam Stein on Friday’s episode as Real Time returns after a short summer break. Despite Real Time taking time off the air, Maher has continued to host his podcast, Club Random.
