Despite no player coming up with the correct response on Monday night, the new champion came away with a decent jackpot.

Who is the current Jeopardy! champion?

Ed Coulson, an economics and real estate professor from Dana Point, California, is the current Jeopardy! champion. His one-day total was $17,399.

On Tuesday, he faced off against Alexa Jakob, an electrical engineer from Queens, New York, and Mark Stover, a physician from Flagstaff, Arizona.

Coulson jumped out to an early lead in the “Jeopardy!” round with $7,200. Stover wasn’t too far behind with $5,000, while Jakob landed in third with $2,800.

“Double Jeopardy!” saw Coulson extend his lead. He finished the round with $16,000. In second came Stover with $11,400 followed by Jakob with $4,800.

Coulson and Stover both answered “Final Jeopardy!” correctly. However, Stover didn’t wager enough to catch the champion. Coulson became a two-day winner with a jackpot totaling $40,200.
