Leaked photo: Bill Maher’s half-empty Vegas comedy show
A photo surfacing online shows what appeared to be a half-empty theatre for Bill Maher‘s two nights at The Mirage this week. The HBO host was participating in the Aces of Comedy event.
A screenshot from a Reddit post read: “I was surprised the theatre was half empty and wanted to share. I used the phone once and put it away, it was not a nuisance to anyone and I’m not posting videos online of the bits which is the main reason the policy is in place. The photo was taken at 9:56 PM for the 10 PM show”.
An attached photo to the now viral tweet sharing the original post, shows a half-full Mirage theatre in Vegas, supposedly just minutes before showtime.
The tweet produced a variety of responses, with many claiming Maher has fallen out of touch with his original comedy fanbase.
One user wrote, “I used to be a die-hard Bill Maher fan for literally decades. Then during the pandemic, Maher was filming his show at home and holy hell, did he go downhill fast. I have stopped watching his show for good. I can’t take him anymore.”
Another provided extra details on the evening, claiming discounted tickets were being sold on the night in attempt to fill up the venue. The tweet did mention however, that the heatwave across the city could have also played a part in the small turnout.
Maher just recently released his latest stand up special, #Adulting filmed at Miami’s Fillmor Theatre on HBO Max. The host’s regular political panel show, Real Time will also make a return to screens on the 29th July after a short summer hiatus.
