Jeopardy! was back on the air Wednesday night with another brand new game. It also featured a new champion, defending their title for the first time.
After a stretch of champions that put together prolonged runs, Jeopardy! has seen a rotating selection of winners.
Who is the current Jeopardy! champion?
Pete Chattrabhuti, an attorney from Washington, DC, is the current Jeopardy! champion. His victory on Tuesday night earned him $10,800.
His competition on Wednesday included Halley Ryherd, a real estate attorney from Waukee, Iowa, and Lauryl Tucker, an associate professor from Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
It was a tight race after the “Jeopardy!” round. Chattrabhuti had a narrow lead with $4,200 compared to $4,000 apiece for Ryherd and Tucker.
But it was Ryherd who put some distance between herself and the other players in “Double Jeopardy!” play. Going 7-for-7, she amassed $14,000. Tucker wasn’t far behind with $11,000, followed by Chattrabhuti with $8,600.
“Final Jeopardy!” was a triple stumper with all three contestants failing to come up with the correct response. It all came down to the wagers as Ryherd squeaked out the victory. She became the new Jeopardy! champion with $5,999.
