SNL‘s very own Kenan Thompson is reportedly filing for divorce after 11 years of marriage. The television personality first joined the SNL cast back in 2003.

The actor will share 50/50 custody of his children alongside Christina Evangeline, sources tell TMZ. It has also been reported that the two will also choose to continue to live closely in New York City.

It seems the two are now finally making their split official after rumours surfaced earlier this year that the couple had decided to part ways unofficially.

Sources who spoke to TMZ revealed that the two grew apart over time and no particular incident was at the core of the decision.

Divorce, now SNL exit?

With recent news over Thompson’s decision to file for divorce, it seems the actor’s future plans with SNL may not be so clear either.

Speaking to ET recently, the 44-year-old said he would likely stay until the show’s 50th anniversary year in 2025.

“I know we at least trying to get to the 50th, ’cause that’s gonna be a special year, you know what I mean? And then after that, it’s like, I don’t know exactly how long I can do it,” the star admitted.

He continued: “What keeps me coming back is them asking me to come back,” he said. “If I felt like I was overstaying my welcome, or unwanted, then I would like to show myself the door, but yeah, it’s also a one-of-a-kind place.”

Thompson has won over 15 awards over his long career at Saturday Night Live, making his time on the show more than a successful ride. It’s clear that the comedian and actor will find alternative avenues if he chooses to exit SNL after it’s anniversary.
