Jeopardy! returned on Tuesday night with another brand new episode. Fans welcomed back a familiar face as the returning champion.

Coming into tonight’s game, all signs suggest that Jeopardy! is in for another prolonged winning streak by its champion. But did the trend continue?

Who is the current Jeopardy! champion?

Eric Ahasic, a meteorologist from Minneapolis, Minnesota, entered Tuesday’s game as the returning champion. Through six games, he’s won $160,601.

Looking to end his streak on Tuesday were Megan Wachspress, an attorney from Berkeley, California, and Barry Margulies, a professor emeritus at Towson University from Lutherville, Maryland.

The “Jeopardy!” round was close, with Ahasic’s $5,000 giving him a slight lead over Margulies’ $4,600. Wachspress sat in third with $1,800.

“Double Jeopardy!” saw Ahasic maintain his lead. He finished the round with $18,600. Wachspress jumped into second with $10,000, followed closely by Margulies with $9,000.

Only Wachspress correctly answered “Final Jeopardy!” tonight, adding $7,201 to her score. Shockingly, Ahasic lost the $1,401 he wagered. All told, Megan Wachspress won by $2 to become the new Jeopardy! champion.

What was tonight’s Final Jeopardy! clue?

It’s always exciting when “Final Jeopardy!” decides the game. Here’s tonight’s clue in the category “1972”:
