Jeopardy! and its returning champion were back on the air Monday night. Did the winning streak continue or do we have a new champion?
Repeat winners have become the trend on Jeopardy! in recent weeks. After the show struggled to see a consistent champ after Mattea Roach, a pair of long-running champions that included Ryan Long arrived.
Who is the current Jeopardy! champion?
Eric Ahasic, a meteorologist from Minneapolis, Minnesota, is the current Jeopardy! champion. During his five-game winning streak, he’s banked $133,801.
On Monday night, his competition included Lisa Hernson, a banking director from New York, New York, and Mazin Omer, a student from Toledo, Ohio.
Ahasic showed off his skills in the “Jeopardy!” round. He answered 12 out of 13 questions correctly on the way to earning $6,800. Omer sat in second with $2,800, while Hernson came in third with -$200.
It was more of the same in “Double Jeopardy!” for Ahasic. He hit on both “Daily Double” questions and finished the round with $29,400. Omer came in a distant second with $9,200 and Hernson managed to at least get on the positive side with $200.
Ahasic didn’t answer “Final Jeopardy!” correctly. In fact, only Herson managed to do that. But it didn’t matter, as Ahasic won again and brought his total jackpot to $160,601.
