Viewers react: “Painful” moment as Jimmy Kimmel cuts off Joe Biden

Twitter is reacting to a viral moment on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live featuring President Joe Biden. Biden attended a screening of the popular ABC late night show as a guest, with his interview now gaining wide attention online, particularly for one particular famed moment.

Whilst discussing the nature of the modern news media, the President was abruptly cut off by Kimmel, who confirmed that the show would have to pause for a commercial break.

He told the President: “I’m going to take a break and then we’ll talk a little bit more, if you don’t mind. I’m sorry. We have some of those commercials.”

Many users online have speculated whether Kimmel really did need to stop Biden in his tracks for a break or instead saw a good opportunity to pause the President to interrupt his labelled long and muddled rant.

Columnist, Benny Johnson wrote on Twitter in reaction: “Watching Biden struggle to string together a comprehensive sentence was so painful that Kimmel went to commercial break.”

Viewers react to Biden’s appearance on Kimmel

Several users across Twitter last week accused Biden of failing to remain coherent during the late night interview. One wrote, “The clips we have seen from Jimmy Kimmel’s Biden interview demonstrate why Joe Biden’s handlers have shielded him from the press. Forming coherent sentences is too great a challenge, even with a cloying worshipper like Kimmel trying to help him.”

However, others were more positive in their responses to the President’s meeting with Kimmel. Another exclaimed: “President Biden went on Jimmy Kimmel’s show for a great late night interview. Its nice to have a @POTUS who is NOT afraid of Late Night shows and does not want to retaliate against them like #TFG desired.”

Trump, during his four year term in the White House, famously did not attend a single late night show for an interview.
