We’ve reached Memorial Day Weekend in the U.S., marking the unofficial start of the summer. So what does that mean for late-night TV’s schedule, starting with Last Week Tonight with John Oliver?
The end of May brings with it some major shifts in the late-night TV world. Saturday Night Live recently aired its season finale, and network shows like The Tonight Show and The Late Show will be off all next week.
The same can be said for John Oliver and company this week. There will not be a new episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver tonight.
Instead, late-night TV fans can check out Pause with Sam Jay on HBO at 11:00 p.m. ET. Jay is a stand-up comedian and former Saturday Night Live writer. Season two of the show launched last week.
When will Last Week Tonight return?
The good news is that Last Week Tonight with John Oliver doesn’t plan to be off the air for long. The HBO series will be back in no time.
The next new episode is scheduled for June 5. So fans only need to hang on for one more week until they get more unfiltered takes from John Oliver.
In the meantime, there are a few different ways to satisfy your Last Week Tonight cravings. The show’s official YouTube channel features the show’s main story segments. Recent clips cover topics including Subway restaurants, electric utilities, and environmental racism.
HBO Max subscribers have access to full episodes. You can hear John Oliver take on topics such as the Pennsylvania gubernatorial race, the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, and Dr. Oz’s U.S. senate campaign.
