Late May means one thing for Saturday Night Live fans: the end is near. So is tonight the season 47 finale or should fans expect to see something else tonight on NBC?

The past two weeks have seen Benedict Cumberbatch and Selena Gomez host brand-new episodes. And given the typical SNL season has 21 episodes, there isn’t much room left for more shows.

And Saturday is, in fact, the season finale. There will be a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.

Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne will be the host. The pop band Japanese Breakfast will serve as the musical guest.

Lyonne becomes the 17th first-time host out of 21 episodes of Saturday Night Live season 47. It will also be the first appearance by Japanese Breakfast.

What to expect from Saturday Night Live tonight

The season finale is always an emotional episode of Saturday Night Live. But tonight’s show could be a little extra, considering who the show and fans will bid farewell.

According to Deadline, Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney are all expected to leave Saturday Night Live following tonight’s finale. Expect some sort of group goodbye for four of the show’s longest-serving, and most popular, cast members.

Beyond that, look for the typical antics that come along with a season finale. We may see the return of popular characters, like James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump or Joe Biden. A cameo or two is also on the table. Natasha Lyonne has connections to SNL alumni Amy Poehler and Fred Armisen, so they are two candidates to appear.

The season finale also means it’s time for the annual “Weekend Update” joke swap. Co-anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che should revive their tradition of writing jokes for each other that the other has never seen before.
