Stephen Colbert won’t be back this week
By Matt Moore
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will not return this week. The CBS late-night show will remain on hiatus following Stephen Colbert reporting COVID-19 symptoms.
This past weekend, Colbert shared the news, and The Late Show confirmed it on Twitter. The account indicated that Colbert experienced symptoms consistent with a recurrence of COVID-19. As a result, production was put on hold.
The break was indefinite, with an outside chance that Colbert’s health would allow him to return by the end of this week. New episodes remained on the CBS schedule until today.
There will not be a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight or on Friday, May 13. It’s unclear whether Colbert will return to the Ed Sullivan Theater next week.
What to watch instead of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert isn’t the only late-night TV option, of course. Here’s what else is on the schedule for Thursday night.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs a new episode on NBC. The guest lineup includes Post Malone, Howie Mandel, and Arcade Fire. It all starts at 11:35 p.m. ET.
After that, it’s time for Late Night with Seth Meyers. Expect to see Amy Sedaris, Michael R. Jackson, a performance from “A Strange Loop”, and Derrick Wright. The show kicks off at 12:35 a.m. ET.
Over on CBS at the same time, The Late Late Show with James Corden will be new. Niecy Nash and Smashing Pumpkins are slated to appear.
