Update: Find out who won Jeopardy! on Tuesday, May 3, right here.

It may be a new month, but it’s the same Jeopardy! champion returning to defend her title. Mattea Roach put her 19-game winning streak on the line on Monday night.

Roach, a tutor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, entered tonight’s game with career winnings totaling $460,184. Only five other players in Jeopardy! history have earned more in regular play.

Tonight, she faced off against Becky Benninghoff, a church organist from Woodbridge, Virginia, and Adam Ilgin, a ferryboat deckhand from Lewes, Delaware.

Who won Jeopardy! tonight?

In typically Mattea Roach fashion, the returning champion built herself a respectable lead after the “Jeopardy!” round. She banked $5,800, compared to Adam Ilgin’s $3,600 and Becky Benninghoff’s $2,000.

Roach did well to extend that lead in “Double Jeopardy!” play. She finished with $16,200. Ilgin remained in striking distance at $8,400, while Benninghoff wound up with $3,200.

So, it all came down to “Final Jeopardy!” tonight. Roach was the only contestant to come up with the correct response, extending her winning streak to 20 games. She added $16,801 to her score, bringing her career winnings to $476,985.

Mattea Roach wisely bet $601 on the question, ensuring she had enough to win if Adam Ilgin answered correctly. Unfortunately for Ilgin, he wrote down “What is Hamlet?” as his response. Meanwhile, Becky Benninghoff came up with “What is Henry V?” as her answer.
